Deployment of doctors
ADI has deployed 22 volunteer doctors on 28 assignments to treat a patient population of over 32,000 people in Western Province, PNG. Doctors split their time between hospital rounds in the port town of Kiunga and medical patrols to remote villages in North and Middle Fly. more

Malaria bed nets
Malaria cases have dropped 46% in one region where ADI has delivered mosquito bed nets*. Since 2003 we have handed out nearly 55,000 of these to villages in Western Province for the eradication of malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases. more

Elimination of lymphatic filariasis
ADI has completed the fifth annual round of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) for the eradication of lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis) in Nomad, Middle Fly. The fifith round of MDA is currently underway in the large adjoining Mougulu region. more

Fly River leprosy
Our volunteer doctors travel the mighty Fly River to the remote villages of Bosset, Mipam and Aimbak to care for an isolated group of 31 leprosy patients, three from a single family. more

Education & training
ADI's doctors help build the expertise of health workers, nurses and hospital workers whilst on the job and at in-service seminars. They also conduct health education in schools and village communities. more
