ACCESS TO QUALITY SERVICES

Despite significant increases in resourcing over the last two decades, the majority of the rural population in PNG still lack access to good quality basic health services. Delivering resources to these remote communities is plagued by challenges maintaining infrastructure, supplying medicines and consumables and adequate staffing.

ADI has been working in Papua New Guinea for more than 20 years to support local health workers deliver services to remote communities. Outreach patrols are still a core component of ADI programs.

We now have fantastic local teams of technical and operational staff on the ground allowing our volunteer doctors to focus on clinical and public health capacity building.

We work with health leaders within the government structures to co-deliver clinical services to remote communities in rural Papua New Guinea. Working with the Provincial Health Authorities we are able to reach more of the population with integrated health teams providing clinical and allied health services that would normally be out of reach to rural communities.
